Dan Wheldon won the Indianapolis 500 for the second time this year,died of injuries suffered in yesterday’s 15-car crash that halted the Las Vegas Indy 300 auto race.Wheldon was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Wheldon was running 25th when cars began spinning in front of him.Wheldon and others were averaging 220 mph (354 kph) or faster in their practice sessions at Las Vegas.Track officials announced that Wheldon was dead. The Englishman was 33.
