The NFL preseason is just underway but some fans are already in mid-season form. There was more than one occasion of violence during NFL preseason games that took place on August 19 and 20, 2011.
The San Francisco 49ers-Oakland Raiders game was marred by violence. Two people were shot outside Candlestick Park, although it has not been determined if the victims were fans of one team or the other.
What can be confirmed is a brawl that took place between 49ers fans and Raiders fans inside Candlestick park. There was reportedly a fight in the bathroom and a huge brawl in the stands.
The Raiders-49ers fan fight was so bad, it prompted the mayors of Oakland and San Francisco to issue a joint statement.
"The incidents ... are completely unacceptable and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Fans come to our stadiums to enjoy an afternoon of football, not to be subjected to intimidation or violence. These games are family events and the types of images we witnessed last night have no place in our arenas."

Earlier this year, San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow was beaten badly outside of Dodgers Stadium after the season opener.The epidemic of fan violence is not limited to the Bay Area. During the Ravens-Chiefs game on Saturday, a fight broke out between Ravens fans near the concession area which left two lying on the ground in pain.
